Project description:

Among the biggest problems facing the Romani ethnic group in the Pilsen Region is affordable housing. The market prices for buying an apartment and for rental housing are high and therefore practically unaffordable for low-income groups. The project responds to these problems by creating a platform for social inclusion of Roma people in the Pilsen Region.

The main goal of the project is to support the strengthening of the identity and position of Roma people in the Pilsen Region and to create tools for their effective integration. One of the main tools is the creation of the Platform for Social Inclusion, whose activities will also focus on the provision of housing as a basic prerequisite for integration and the solution of other social problems related to the lack of standard housing, and the mapping of this approach will allow its implementation in other regions.

An integral part of the project's activities is the implementation of educational events for representatives of public administration, educational institutions and providers of social and related services working in the area of integration of the Roma people. Part of the key activities will be the initiation of the creation of the Pilsen Romani Council, as a formal grouping of representatives of all the most important Roma families in Pilsen, which will be a tool for formulating and solving problems felt by the entire Roma community.

The functional set-up and coherence of the individual activities will be a suitable tool for strengthening the activation of Roma people at the local and regional level and will contribute to building Roma civil society. The project will thus increase knowledge about the life of Roma people in relation to their history and socio-cultural specificities, which will contribute to a better understanding of the position of the Roma minority in the context of the existence of society, as well as to strengthening the competences of representatives of organisations and institutions in working with Roma people.
